WHAT I CAN OFFER
I will design and plan anything that you would like printed. I have worked with trade printers for many years and understand the most cost-effective methods of getting good design on paper. I will design brochures, postcards, books, magazines, newsletters, adverts, stationery, posters, flyers, CD covers and just about anything that will attract your potential customer’s attention and sell your product, service or event. I will help with obtaining printing costs and manage your job through the process if required. I can art direct photographers and illustrators, assist with writing clear and effective copy and help in many areas of marketing, sales and promotion.
I will design simple websites like this one and create graphics, photography, copy and visually stimulating elements within more complicated internet projects with the assistance of more HTML friendly professionals.
I offer consultation on design and construction of interior display and exhibition projects such as retail display, art exhibitions and showcase construction.
I have worked with students of design and computer graphics throughout my career and can offer training either on a one-to one basis or in seminars in the use of design software, computers in general, marketing design, print buying and copy writing.
A BRIEF HISTORY
I started out after leaving art college in the early 1980’s with the ambition of becoming a farmer inspired by the vision of John Seymour. After learning to drive a tractor and a shocking introduction to modern farming methods at agricultural college I decided within a year to stick to what I knew best and became a sign artist.
Since then I have worked most notably as a designer for a computer software company in South London during the time that Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were establishing their empires, a vehicle graphics designer and salesman in the early days of vinyl sign manufacture, a point-of-sale designer and retail display manufacturer – and for the last eighteen years as a graphic designer.
I have always enjoyed working in both two and three dimensions so have developed my skills in structural composition, stone carving and sculpture alongside my graphics abilities using computers.
I live independently in Bristol, have two very lovely grown-up children and a small troublesome cat.
